On March 21th 2018, Delegation of the Centre for International Migration and Development (CIM) visited and worked with Thai Nguyen University of Sciences (TNUS) . The Centre for International Migration and Development is jointly run by German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ) GmbH and the German Federal Employment Agency (ZAV) of the Federal Bureau of Employment of Germany. CIM is mandated by the German Federal Government to implement the “Immigration for Development” program to support the potential for migration for development purposes. The program is currently being conducted in Vietnam under the management of the office of the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ) in Hanoi.

Delegation of CIM includes Ms. Dang Thi Phuong Dung - coordinatior of the program in Vietnam, Ms. Olivia Hennemann, project manager at GIZ and Ms. Lieselotte Heckmann - project manager at ZAV. The delegation was warmly welcomed by Prof. Dr. Le Thi Thanh Nhan - Rector of TNUS, Dr. Hoang Lam - head of Office of Science - Technology & International Cooperation, Assoc.Prof. Dr. Duong Nghia Bang - head of Administrative Office and Ass.Prof.Dr. Ngo Van Gioi - Dean of Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences.
At the meeting, CIM presentatives introduced main acitivities of the centre. CIM is funding for nearly 30 experts who are working at universities, research institutes, governmental administrative organisations and non-governmental organisations to contribute to the sustainable development goals of Vietnam. Experts who were trained or had working experiences in Germany receive a support in a specific period when they return to work in their countries. Experts who work at important positions that are able to contribute positively to the development of Vietnam will receive financial support for a certain period of time. Two experts of TNUS receive the support of CIM are Dr. Vuong Truong Xuan, Lecturer of Chemistry Faculty and Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Mai, Lecturer of Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences .
The CIM delegation not only learned about performance of two experts at TNUS, but also visited TNUS’ facilities, as well as discussed the cooperation opportunities with the university in the future. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Thanh Nhan highly appreciated the supporting activities of CIM and expressed her gratitude to the Immigration for Development program for supporting two lecturers of TNUS. According to Prof. Dr. Le Thi Thanh Nhan, this support is very meaningful to the university because it helps these lecturers keep their mind on work after a long time studying and researching in Germany.
